This project address the commuter campus by creating a linear connection from the parking garage to the pedestrian campus. The ground floor is made up of entirely of public (to the university) programs, allowing the building to act as a continuation of the campus. This floor is back loaded with closed programs that have controlled views to garden spaces. This leaves the front with open programs that have views to the existing pond. The studio spaces above are housed in an inwardly-focused linear bar that wraps above. The conceptual front is a faceted surface that articulates a zone of stairs and crit spaces. The outer edge of the space is sky lit; the structure divides the continuous space into zones that articulate the individual studios. While the front and back edges of the studio space are rigid, the side edges are malleable, allowing for flexibility as the school grows and adapts. The linear studio bar culminates in the library which has a rooftop terrace with a view of the skyline of Lower Manhattan.
